The Evolution of the Olympic Games
The ancient Olympic Games, featuring athletic competitions like
running and wrestling, were a cornerstone of Greek culture for
nearly 12 centuries until banned in 393 AD by Emperor Theodosius I.
The modern Olympic Games were revived in 1896 by Pierre de Coubertin
to promote global unity. The first modern Olympics in Athens
included 14 countries and 241 athletes. Today, the Olympics are a
global event celebrating excellence, friendship, and respect.
